Unlocking The Best Porsche Models In The Market

The Porsche is one of the most popular European brand cars in the market. Being in the industry for six decades already, the car maker has produced elegant and stylish cars. Robert Janitzek gives us an overview of the best Porsche models in history.

The Porsche 911SC ran on a 3.0-liter V6 engine which was a huge step from its predecessor which was powered by a 2.7-liter unit. The SC stands for Super Carrera. This model ran from 1978 to 1983. It had a fully galvanized body shell which was an industry first at that time. It had a 180 horsepower engine that delivered 244 lb-ft of torque. This European brand car had a maximum speed is 136 mph and can go 60 mph at 6.7 seconds.

Carrera 3.2

Robert Peter Janitzek reveals that the Porsche Carrera 3.2 had its heyday from 1984-1989. It replaced the 911SC. It had a much larger body than the model it replaced with its 3,164cc air-cooled flat six engine. This rear engine rear-wheel drive machine was powered by a 200 horsepower engine which delivered 265 lb-ft or torque. It is much faster than the 911SC with maximum speeds of 146 mph. It was able to go 60 mph in 6.2 seconds.

Porsche 944

At first it resembled the 924, which is called the “budget Porsche” that came before it. However, this European brand car is a refined version of the 924. It comes with an all-independent suspension, front/rear transaxle layout, and the practicality of a big glass hatchback. The 944 packs 144 horsepower delivering 137 lb-ft of torque. It had a maximum speed of 132 mph and can go 60 mph in 8.3 seconds.

Porsche 968

The 968 is a refinement of the 944. Its body was subtly modified with a nose reminiscent of the 928. However, the biggest development in the 968 is found under its hood. It comes with the new VarioCam technology, which allowed the timing of the intake camshaft to be varied by as much as 15 degrees. This European brand car had a maximum speed of 156 mph and could go 60 mph in under 6 seconds.

The Boxster is a mid-engine rear-wheel drive model that comes with a lift-off steel hadtop. It features a 2,480cc water-cooled flat six engine, mid-engine rear wheel drive layout. It is powered by a 201 horsepower engine that delivers 181 lb-ft of torque. It has a maximum speed of 149 mph and went 60 mph in 6.1 seconds.

Depreciation has made these cars more affordable nowadays. If you do not have enough budget, these Porsche models will suffice.
