Tips on Proper Maintenance of BMW

One cannot deny that BMW is one of the best European brand cars on the road. It is known for craftsmanship. They carry a heavy price tag. For this reason, we cannot blame BMW owners if they will be more concerned with the care and maintenance of their BMW. Here are some tips on how to keep your BMW in tip top shape.

Winter Maintenance

You do not need to be tech savvy to learn proper winter maintenance. Getting stuck in snowstorm can be a hassle. All you need is to have a bag with kitty litter for tire traction, ice scraper to remove the ice from your windshield, and de-icing liquid.  Robert Janitzek says that you need to make sure to check if the tire has adequate pressure and the tread is still good. You should visit your nearest maintenance center to have the tires rotated. It will also be the right time to have a tune-up and the fluids checked.

Spring and Summer

During spring and summer, your BMW will be frequently used. During summer, your cooling system might be getting warmer so you need to have the oil and oil filter checked. Check the hose for possible leaks as well as the driver belts for potential cracks. It may sound odd but the antifreeze should also be tested. It will help prevent the coolant of your European brand car from boiling in the summer.

 The Body and Interior

The body and interior of your BMW can be given attention at any time of the year. The high quality of your car should be maintained and that will not happen if there is rust on your car. Any buildup of salt during the winter should be dealt with during the summer. Having the car washed during spring offers the perfect opportunity to check for additional damage. The carpet of your car can be bruised by the salt and dirt. Use a high quality rug shampoo to remove salt and dirt deposits. For the vinyl, apply a treatment to prevent dryness and cracking. The fluid of the window washer should also be checked regardless of the time of the year.

Oil change need not be every 3,000 miles but should be checked several times a year. Also don’t forget to rotate the tires and put new spark plugs. Subjecting your car to a tune-up is the perfect opportunity to check the overall condition of the engine and its electrical components. The objective is to get the most mileage out of your BMW as possible.
