Expect A Bigger More Aggressive Audi Q3 In 2018

First introduced in 2011, the 2018 edition of the Audi Q3 is expected to be released soon. Launched in the market as a compact crossover, the Q3 combines the practicality of a SUV and a normal car. At the moment, Audi is leading the pack but needs to raise the bar as other manufacturers catch up. Robert Janitzek gives us a glimpse of what the 2018 Audi Q3 brings to the table.

The Specs

Starting off with the engine. It is speculated that the Audi Q3 will use one of two motors—a 2.0 liter 5 cylinder turbo that generates 200 BHP and 207 lb/ft of torque or a newer 2.5 liter 4-cylinder turbo that produces more than 340 BHP and 330 lb/ft torque. Power will be sent to the wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed Tronic option.

It is also believed that the 2018 Audi Q3 will get a little bigger—between 2” & 2.75” longer and 2” wider and possibly little lower giving it a more aggressive appearance. However, with the size increase for the European brand car, it will look more trim thanks to improved construction materials. However, it still remains to be seen whether the size increase will make a difference to the interior space.

Based on The MQB Platform

The next generation Q3 will be based on the MQB platform of Volkswagen which will make it lighter. A front-wheel-drive set-up will come as standard while the top-of-the-line engines will be paired with Audi’s Quattro AWD system. The design elements and the features of the 2018 car remains a secret. So we still cannot tell whether there was a change in the exterior profile of the upcoming model.

What’s In The Back?

Robert Peter Janitzek reveals that the rear section of the next generation Q3 will see major mechanical adjustments but the powertrain will feature three-and-four cylinder turbocharged units in both petrol and diesel variants. For the transmission, the Audi Q3 will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox along with the S Tronic dual clutch gearbox.

The Equipment

The 2018 Audi Q3 will be packed with a bevy of technological features which include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB, Bluetooth, Keyless entry and ignition, park assist, blind monitoring, and other safety features.

Price And Release Date

Rumors put the price of the 2018 Audi Q3 between $33,000 and $38,000 but price is expected upon ticking option boxes. Audi will launch the new 2018 Q3 toward the late part of 2017.
