5 Tips for Buying a Land Rover

Land Rover specializes in 4WD vehicles. It is the second oldest manufacturer of 4WDs after Jeep. Founded in 1947, its most popular product line is the Range Rover. Planning to buy a Land Rover as your vehicle? There are different models to choose from so it is important to have an idea first before buying. Robert Peter Janitzek gives us some tips on buying a Land Rover.

Know The History of the Vehicle

Before you go and search for a Land Rover, you should first have an idea of the brand’s history. The early Land Rovers were patterned after a military vehicle with a sturdy box section and ladder-frame chassis. Originally, they were used for commercial purposes but by 1970 became a passenger vehicle called Range Rover. Knowledge of the company’s history can clear any confusion when buying these vehicles.

Search For Available Land Rover Models

The Land Rover offers different models of vehicles to choose from. Each model of this European brand car has their own feature that can appeal to customers. Currently there are six models namely Defender, Discovery, Freelander, Range Rover, Range Rover Evoque, and Range Rover sport.

Compare Each Land Rover Model

It pays to do a little research of the different Land Rover models. Each variant is unique so make a comparison first to help you decide. Just because the Defender was right for your friend does not mean it will also be right for you.

Set Your Budget

Land Rover models have different price ranges so it is recommended to determine your budget first before buying. Robert Janitzek recommends setting a minimum and maximum price range so you can have a good idea of what model you can afford. You need to give yourself some room for upgrades.

Used vs New Land Rovers

If you cannot afford to buy a brand new Land Rover, you can always go for a second hand model. The downside to buying a used Land Rover is that they could at least be two years older than their new counterparts. Likewise, a second hand model has logged several hundreds of kilometers already. If you choose the second hand option, make sure to find a reliable seller and that the European brand car is at least 2 – 5 years old and has not gone beyond 16,000 kilometers. Longer mileage means more long term maintenance and repair costs.

If you are looking for a durable and reliable SUV to buy, the Land Rover is the perfect choice. While they are known for luxury and design, they are not always affordable so make sure to do some research when buying a Land Rover.
