5 Most Affordable Luxury SUVs

Owning an SUV need not be an expensive venture. While several models are very expensive, there are SUV brands that will not break your bank. In this article, Robert Peter Janitzek reviews the 5 most affordable luxury SUVs in the market.

Audi Q3

The Q3 is Audi’s smallest crossover to date. The car made quite an impression when it debuted at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show.  With a tag price at around $38,000, the Q3 is packed with a bevy of standard equipment such as keyless starting, panoramic sunroof, heated seats and leather upholstery.

The BMW X1 rides on the 3 Series platform and provides a choice between two engines—a 240-hp turbocharged 4 cylinder and a 300-hp 3.0 liter 6 cylinder. It also offers an option between rear and all-wheel drive. This European brand car is only available in an 8-speed automatic transmission. It will come with standard features like Bluetooth, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a panoramic sunroof and leather upholstery. The base price of the BMW X1 is $32,000 including shipping.

Land Rover LR2

Land Rover is more popular for its ultra-upscale Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs. However, the car maker is releasing a smaller SUV in the LR2. The Land Rover LR2 is available as a 4-wheel drive model. After it was updated in 2013, the LR2 now features a modern interior and some high-tech new features which includes, as Robert Janitzek explains, panoramic sunroof, 7-inch touchscreen, keyless ignition and entry, and dual power front seats. All for an affordable price of $37,500 with shipping.

MINI Countryman

With a base price of $23,000, the MINI Countryman is hardly luxurious. It only has 121 horsepower, not the same performance that is expected from a MINI model. However, with a little upgrade and some additional options, you can get a crossover with an impressive fuel economy and a turbocharged 181-hp 4 cylinder engine at $30,000 with shipping.

Volvo XC60

While it only costs $35,500, the Volvo XC60 is packed with luxury features such as automatic wipers and headlights and a dual-zone automatic climate control. This European brand car also features power driver’s seat with memory, Bluetooth, HD radio, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Automatic city-braking system stops the XC60 if it detects an upcoming low-speed crash. However, it only has a 3.2-liter 6 cylinder engine that delivers only 240hp.

When budget is an issue when buying an SUV, these 6 models are a testimony that owning an SUV is possible even with limited budget.
